We can safely say that this year has been an inspirational year for men’s underwear with lots of designer brands launching new styles to keep us on our toes. With only a few weeks left of 2011, it’s time to celebrate one of the great styles that has been seen across multiple brands this year - stripes.
We’ve seen bold stripes, subtle stripes, wide stripes and narrow stripes. We’ve seen them on men’s boxer shorts, briefs and pyjamas. Here are just a few of our favourites from the last few seasons which we think will make a great addition to your underwear drawer.
First up, one of our all-time favourite brands, Calvin Klein, seems to have gone a little stripe mad this year. However we love several of their designs. Our clear favourites though have got to be the Calvin Klein 365 Trunk Boxer Shorts in Falling Stripe. These fabulous boxer shorts feature an array of bright colours including bold blue and lime green while the contrasting grey toned stripes give them a sophisticated look.
We also love the Calvin Klein CK One Cotton Stretch Trunk Boxer Shorts in Burning Laser. These boxer shorts also feature a great choice of stripe colour but we adore them as the stripes aren’t precise in nature and this gives these boxer shorts a modern, edgy vibe.
The final pair of Calvin Klein’s we have at the top of our list are the Calvin Klein Prostretch Fun Pride Hip Briefs which come in either black or white. ‘But they’re not striped?’ we hear you say, but in fact the waistband is. We love the vibrant rainbow colours on these briefs whilst the ‘pride’ statement is close to our hearts.
It’s not just Calvin Klein who have embraced the striped theme this year; Oiler and Boiler have also launched a few stripy creations. Our favourites are the Oiler and Boiler Boxer Shorts in Deckchair Stripe Sunny Lime. We love the white background and wide stripes which remind us of sunny summer days, lounging on the beach.
Bjorn Borg have also dabbled with the striped look with the Bjorn Borg Boxer Shorts in Dark Denim Stripe. These boxer shorts are more subtle than most in their design and feature a more formal pin stripe effect which is perhaps, ideal for the office.
