Inside the Calvin Klein underwear brand

Back in December we decided that as well as telling you about the latest seasonal styles when it comes in men’s underwear that we’d also like to tell you a little more about the brands themselves - including their origins, what they stand for and how they’ve grown. In this edition, we’re going to tell you a little more about one of our all-time favourite brands Calvin Klein underwear.

Calvin Klein the brand was created in 1968 in America. The founder of the company is Calvin Klein himself who attended (but never completed his studies) at The Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. From his Bronx background, Calvin Klein established his company, known as Calvin Klein Inc, which incorporates a total of 11 different brands. Amongst them are The Calvin Klein Collection which is the top-end designer clothing line, Calvin Klein Sport which is a range produced for the firm Macy’s and of course famous brand Calvin Klein Underwear.

The Calvin Klein Underwear brand initially started off only be sold in dedicated Calvin Klein stores, nestled amongst the iconic Calvin Klein jeans and other high-end designer clothing items. However it became apparent that the market for Calvin Klein underwear was different from the high-end clothing customer and dedicated underwear stores started to pop up around the world as the range increased in size.

Today, Calvin Klein underwear can be found in a wide range of online stores, including Whites and Smalls and the range is bigger than ever with a variety of sub-brands having evolved including CK One and Calvin Klein 365. The best-selling style of Calvin Klein underwear is still the iconic black boxer shorts featuring the contrasting waistband sporting the brand name. However variations of these have evolved to include items such the CK One Cotton Stretch Trunks – Black with Blue Trim.

The Calvin Klein 365 range incorporates a wide variety of more daring styles featuring bold prints and heavy patterns. Amongst them are the purple and yellow Calvin Klein 365 Trunk Boxer Shorts in Cottonball and Calvin Klein 365 Hip Brief in Falling Stripe

The future looks bright for the Calvin Klein underwear brand and we look forward to seeing what 2012 has in store for us.
