Getting Value for Money in the January Sales

The UK economy is fuelled by spending sprees throughout the year. In the run up to Christmas you are bombarded with messages about what you simply have to buy to be able to enjoy Christmas from special mince pies to diamond rings, all the rage toys to that all important brand new sofa that you will have to get for all your relatives to sit on. After dishing out all your hard earned cash to please others, January finally arrives and it’s time to splash your cash to treat yourself courtesy of the January Sales.

The designer men’s underwear industry is no different and a number of designer brands are heavily discounted to allow you to treat yourself to a whole new range of undies. But with so many brands and styles to choose from, you could get lost in the glitz of sale signs so we thought we’d share our top tip for getting excellent value for money in the January Sales.

Top Tip – Price v Style
Our top tip is the on-going contest between price and style. Imagine you are faced with two pairs of boxer shorts on the shelf. One pair are plain black so very practical, they are by a brand you don’t know but are heavily discounted. The other pair are more colourful, by a brand you know and really feel like they’re your style but they’re slightly more expensive than the other pair. What should you do?

The majority of people when faced with this situation will buy the cheapest priced pair of boxer shorts as the price tag decision over rules the style element. These boxer shorts may then sit in your underwear drawer until all your other pairs are dirty as you simply have no desire to wear them over more stylish designs. They may end up faded or stretched as they weren’t made by a reputable brand in the first place. This makes them poor value for money and uneconomical.

However had you chosen the pair of boxer shorts with the slightly higher price tag, by the brand you knew, you may have actively seeked them out to wear and they may have lasted longer in terms of washing. These would therefore have represented better long term value for money.

So our advice to you is opt to buy designer men’s underwear brands you know convey quality such as Calvin Klein underwear, Luis and Juke and Oiler and Boiler to name just a few and choose styles that you will actually want to wear.
